Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion

A microdermabrasion is a great treatment to superficially exfoliate the skin for smooth, soft, and fresh complexion. Suitable for most skin types, this is a very non-invasive treatment to achieve noticeable results after your first treatment.

We perform hydro-dermabrasion, using a diamond tipped, suction device that is applied to the skin along with hydrating serums to exfoliate dead skin cells from the stratum corneum (the top layer). Dead skin cells can build up on the skins surface and cause a dull appearance, so a gentle and effective exfoliation can restore that glow that you have been missing by providing a noticeably smoother and softer skin, appearing firm, plump and hydrated immediately following treatment.

Other benefits of this treatment includes increased cell turnover, blood flow, lymphatic drainage and addressing congestion in the skin. Microdermabrasion helps to minimise pores, stimulates the production of new and healthy skin cells, and revitalises your skin giving you a noticeable glow.

Microdermabrasion is often paired with another skin treatment, commonly chemical peels, because it allows for products to better penetrate once the microdermabrasion removes the build up of dead cells from the top layer.

The treatment is minimally invasive and extremely comfortable. Mild redness is expected after the treatment and can last up to a few hours.

  • To ensure the best results from your microdermabrasion facial treatment, it's important to prepare your skin ahead of time.

    1. Avoid Exfoliating Products 5-7 days before your treatment, stop using exfoliating skincare products, such as retinoids (Vitamin A), (AHAs) and (BHAs). These can make your skin more sensitive during the treatment.

    2. Limit Sun Exposure for a week before your treatment and wear SPF daily.

    3. No Waxing or Chemical Peels before your treatment to prevent increased sensitivity during your treatment.

    1. Apply Sunscreen and avoid sun exposure for at least 2 weeks after the procedure to protect your skin and prevent pigmentation changes.

    2. Moisturise Regularly and keep your skin hydrated with a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser to soothe and support the healing process.

    3. Avoid Hot Showers, Sweating, sauna and exercise for 24-48 hours. Excessive heat and sweat can irritate the treated skin and cause discomfort.

    4. Don’t Scrub or Exfoliate after your treatment, as your skin has just been exfoliated during your treatment so needs time to heal.

    • What skin concerns can microdermabrasion treat?

Microdermabrasion is effective for treating a variety of skin concerns, including:

    • What should I do to prepare for microdermabrasion?

To prepare for your treatment, avoid using retinoids, exfoliating acids, and other harsh skincare products for at least 3-5 days before your session.

    • Can microdermabrasion be done on all skin types?

Microdermabrasion is suitable for most skin types, but it may not be recommended for individuals with moderate to severe active acne, eczema, or rosacea.
